In April of 2004, after severe rains swept across the area, a landslide ravaged a portion of Aguascalientes. Two months later, as you can see, the people are still facing the remains of this disaster which left nine people dead. These pictures cannot begin to describe what really happened but shows us how devastating a landslide can be. Our hearts go out to the families of the victims.
The landslide originated high up in the mountains in the background of these pictures and charged down towards the town wiping out railroad tracks and leaving hundreds of tourists stranded in town.
Piles of rubble can be seen all around the railroad tracks.
9 people perished in this tragedy; some of them lived in these homes.
The slide finally came to an end when it reached the river. You can see just how large some of the stones that fell were.
